What makes someone a good candidate for Kybella?
Various factors – including heredity, hormonal fluctuations, and weight gain – cause people to develop unwanted fullness in their jawline profile. The best candidates for Kybella® treatments have genetic, rather than weight-related, submental fat deposits, and firm, elastic skin that will tighten after fat disappears.
What is the difference between Kybella and Liposuction for double chin removal?
Kybella® is a safe and effective alternative to surgery for jawline rejuvenation. Liposuction is an invasive surgical technique that requires healing time and leaves small scars, whereas Kybella® eliminates the need for incisions, stitches, general anesthesia, and downtime for recovery.
Does Kybella tighten skin under the chin?
The primary benefit of Kybella® is the elimination of fat under the chin and along the jawline. But a secondary benefit can include some tightening of the skin. The treatment stimulates the production of collagen, which can strengthen and tighten skin. So along with the fat reduction, patients with mild to moderate skin laxity may see about a 10% skin-tightening effect from a series of Kybella® treatments.
Is Kybella painful?
During the procedure, we use a tiny needle, and most patients report only minor discomfort. We also use a special icing technique to lessen discomfort. If you are worried about pain, ask your injector about other ways to make your treatment more tolerable.
When can I expect to see results from Kybella injections?
You may start seeing results as soon as two months after your final appointment, but sometimes it takes six to nine months for the full effects to reveal themselves.
Is there any downtime with a Kybella treatment?
The treated area does swell and can remain tender for a week or two after the treatment. There is also the possibility of slight bruising in the treated area. No heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for 24 hours following treatment. Avoid manipulation/massage of the treated area following treatment, which includes not having facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, microneedling etc. for 14 days (about 2 weeks) after treatment.
